Heart Shaped Cups
I have been reading a 30 day book called "Made to Crave" by Lysa Terkuerst and one of the days has got me to thinking a lot about what often do. She mentions how sometimes we hold in our hands a heart shaped cup that represents our hearts. When it feels empty we hold it up to be filled again. Unfortunately we often hold it up to the wrongs things in our search to fill our empty hearts. We hold it out to food (especially if it's fatty and sugary food), friends, family, money, praise, ect., looking for a quick and easy satisfaction, only to be disappointed how quickly the cup is empty again or not even filled enough. When our feelings are hurt, we're lonely, restless or any number of times in our lives, we should, but oft do not, turn to God to fill our empty hearts. Rather than hold our hearts to things or people to fill it, let's remember only God can fill us in a lasting way. It may not be instant gratification, but only God can fill the emptiness in a permanent way. :)
